It’s that time of year again for us to begin reserving our lanes for the best family event of the year. It’s the G’Rock 7th Annual Bowling Party and you are invited.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 29, 2020, 4PM – 6PM. Then purchase your family bowling passes. Make it a family night outing and join us for Bowling for fun at the Bowl America Lanes in Gaithersburg.
You are cordially invited to G-Rock’s Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi’s Father/Daughter Dance and Luncheon. This is your chance to show your little girl how special she is to you. Treat her to a night of music, dancing, and fun; memories she will have for a lifetime.
The evening includes:
- Music from a local DJ
- A photograph of the daddy-daughter couple, given to each daughter
Sharing memories and stories from her father and daughter realtionship is special guest speaker, NBC4 Washington’s Meteorologist, Somara Theodore.

Join members of the Gaithersburg-Rockville (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. (GROCK) and The Kappa Youth and Community Foundation (KYCF) as we raise funds to benefit our youth mentoring programs and the foundation’s community outreach and scholarship programs.
Tickets are $40 in advance (by Nov. 25th) – $50 thereafter. Your ticket includes:
- A tasting of five wines
- Complimentary hors-d’oeuvres
- A coupon for $3 towards the purchase of your first bottle of wine (available for use the day of the event only) $10.00 of each bottle purchased goes to the KYCF!
- A portion of each ticket is tax-deductible.
The KYCF is the charitable arm of GROCK. In 2018, the KYCF community outreach efforts included awarding (8) $1000 College Scholarships and supporting efforts to provide approximately meals to students at Montgomery College and families at Stepping Stones Shelter in the Gaithersburg-Rockville (MD). The GROCK chapter is continuing to mentor 25 male students in grades 7-12 and providing financial support to the fraternity’s initiative, the Sunday of Hope, that benefits the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The 2020 Kappa Youth & Community Foundation’s (KYCF) scholarship program submission window is now open.
High school seniors who are students of color living in Montgomery County and who meet the requirements set forth by KYCF are eligible to submit an application.
The 2019-2020 KYCF Scholarship application can only be submitted on-line this year. No paper application or correspondence will be accepted via U.S. postal mail. All required support documents must be uploaded via the application or emailed to the scholarship committee before April 20, 2020 , at email@example.com

The students at Shady Grove Middle School in Gaithersburg went back to school this morning, September 3, 2019, and we were there to wish them a successful academic year.
Thanks to Principal Dr. Alana Murray and her staff — Assistant principals Jennifer Cooper and Barbara Escobar for the opportunity to greet your students on the first day of school.
G-Rock loves the kids! A special thanks to the Brothers of G-Rock and a few friends who donated their time and funds to purchase and distribute back packs and school supplies to the children at Strawberry Knoll and Waters Landing Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year.
This donation was made possible by members of the G-Rock Alumni Chapter, the community and from our visiting Brothers who attended the 2019 Eastern Province Officers Workshop to assure students have what they need to have a successful academic year.
The Gaithersburg-Rockville (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., looks forward to helping our young people get prepared to go back to school.
This year, we will be collecting school supplies for Waters Landing Elementary School (Germantown MD) and Strawberry Knolls Elementary School (Gaithersburg MD). Some of the items needed to help the students excel this school year are: backpacks , pencils, and glue sticks.

The Gaithersburg-Rockivlle (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated was named the medium chapter Ronald R. Young Website Award winner at KAψ’s 2019 Grand Chapter Meeting and Conclave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — July 30 – August 4, 2019.
The Ronald R. Young Award is the bestowed upon alumni and undergraduate chapters who demonstrate technological proficiency in the design, composition, and utility of their website.
The Ronald R. Young Award was established in 2001 at the 75th Grand Chapter Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio, by 29th Grand Polemarch Howard L. Tutman, Jr. The award is named after the fraternity’s 28th Grand Polemarch Ronald. R. Young. It was first presented in 2003 at the 76th Grand Chapter Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.
